Department of Islamic Studies

It is an important pillar of the school which shoulders a great responsibility of imparting Islamic Education and provides Tarbiyah based on the Islamic tenets. 

It aims at the balanced growth of the total personality of man through the training of man’s spirit, intellect, his rational self, feelings and bodily senses. It caters therefore for the growth of man in all its aspects: spiritual, intellectual, imaginative, physical, scientific, linguistic, both individually and collectively and motivates all aspects towards goodness and the attainment of perfection by moulding their behaviour, upbringing the children and to do their spiritual rectification in accordance with the Shari’ah.

The curriculum of Islamic studies at AIIIS comprises the learning of Belief, Teachings of Islam, Masaa’il, Seerat-un-Nabi e, Islamic Upbringings, History of Islam and all the basic teachings of Islam.

It provides Muslim children with an environment in which they can learn and live Islam. The homogeneity of their culture and values creates social and emotional stability which facilitates and accelerates their learning in general areas of education (English, math, science, languages arts, etc.). They develop a strong sense of belonging to the Muslim Ummah. They not only preserve rich Islamic heritage, but contribute towards development and progress of the Muslim Ummah in general. It tries to enable the child grasp solid education in both streams, strong discipline and inculcate in them the sense of good citizenship and loyalty to the country and the humanity at large.

 

Department of Qur’anic Studies

The Noble Quran is the literal words of Allah I that He revealed as an infallible source of legislation for mankind to live an organized life. It contains regulations and recommendations about all aspects of life and references to the Hereafter. Being so important, the Quran must be read, written, recited correctly and clearly and understood, so as not to create any sort of ambiguity or misunderstanding whatsoever. It is mandatory upon human beings to act upon the teachings of the Quran to live a successful life in this world and to get salvation in the hereafter. Sensing this need of the hour this department was brought into existence.

The department aims at  spreading the knowledge of the Articulation points of Arabic alphabet, correct the pronunciation of the words of the Qur’an, giving the letters their rights by observing the unchanging essential characteristics of each letter, understanding the rules set to read it  in a manner that pleases Allah I, to protect the tongue from mistakes in reciting the Book of Allah, and to make the reciter proficient in reciting the Qur’an, observing the correct pronunciation of every letter with the rulings and characteristics which apply to each letter, without any exaggeration or deficiency in accordance with the rules of Tajweed.

The department works to enhance the ability of the youth to get all the spiritual joy and enlightenment by understanding the glorious Qur’an while listening and ponder upon the creations of Allah I. It makes Salah worship full of spiritual enlightenment rather than just a ritual. It provide with a tremendous opportunity to build the relationship with Allah I. 

 

Department of Hifz and Nazirah

Azaan international Institute of Islamic Studies has the rare distinction of having more than 250 students both from boys and girls in its Hifz section supported by 15 dedicated teachers. The institution has produced 14 Huffaz so far, many of who have read out the Qur’an in Taraweeh in the month of Ramadhan which is an achievement par excellence. Most of these students are now pursuing higher education in reputed institutes in India and abroad.

There are three qualifying stages in the section:

  • Tajweed: Students from classes 3 and 4 only are given admission in this stage to learn the basics of Tajweed. They are taught Arabic Alphabet, recognition of the two, three or more lettered words, correct pronunciation of the Arabic words and sentences and finally rules of Tajweed and their application in the Qur’an as per the rules of Hafs. 
  • Nazirah: In this stage, students learn how to recite the Glorious Qur’an beautifully in a proper manner with correct pronunciation, Makhaarij and fluency. In addition to this they are taught some basic necessary teaching of Islam, Daily Du’as, and Azkaar. As soon as they qualify this stage, they become eligible to be promoted to Hifz section.
  • Hifz-e-Qur’an: This is the most important stage of this Department. Students from classes 5 and 6 only can take direct admission in the section if they are aware of the rules of Tajweed and Makharij (Articulation points of the Arabic letters) with their application in the Qur’an, know how to recite the Qur’an properly in accordance with the criteria set above. For this, knowledge of the rules and reading Qur’an with Tajweed is mandatory.

The students enrolled in this Department also continue with their academic subjects. The section continues to thrive as a preferred destination for students striving to immerse in the study of the great ocean of the knowledge of Qur’an. The purpose of this section is to produce quality Huffaz who not only can lead daily prayers in their locality, but also become Intercessors for ten members of their family before Allah I on the Day of Judgment.

 

Teaching Methodology:

Students of Qa’idah section are taught Noorani Qa’idah with properly followed strategies for Tajweed which requires almost one complete year. After the completion of Qaida, a child has to qualify in an exam for getting promoted for Nazirah of Quran which also requires one complete year. After completing Nazirah, the child is again promoted to Hifz-e-Quran. The duration for completing the three stages depends on the child’s competency. An average student may take five years along with conventional academics and an above average child may take four years; a brilliant child may take three years or less than that.
